Back to My Roots is situated in Burns Avenue. San Ignacio, Cayo. Owned by Barbara & Carlton Flowers. Barbara is from Switzerland and has been in Belize for 17yrs, she is a part-time Art teacher at the Sacred Heart College  & Carlton, is originally from Belize City and has lived in Cayo for 14yrs.

If you are looking for a nice gift for a birthday or anniversary or if you are a tourist looking for something a little different to take back with you, then you should not miss visiting Back to My Roots. The majority of the jewellery sold in the shop is made by Barbara & Charlton in original designs, there is a wonderful selection; rings, necklaces, earrings and much more beautifully crafted in silver, gold, semi-precious stones, Amber from Chiapas in Mexico, bone, wood and coral (Back to My Roots are licensed to sell Coral) you are really spoilt for choice and the prices are very reasonable. They also stock Local artwork, original painting by local artists, drums, rain sticks and a variety of goods made from bamboo, leather, coconut husks and Jade.

One of the special artworks you can find there are the pictures made from butterfly wings, these are truly beautiful and very unusual. Barbara supports the San Jose Women’s Craft Group by selling their handmade basket ware, Calabash pottery and traditional Mayan blouses with wonderful embroidery.

Back to My Roots is about to move into new premises almost next door to where they are now to give them a little more space for their growing business. The opening hours are; Monday to Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Thursday, Friday & Saturday 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
